Students will receive a review of the basics of Arashi and Murakumo Shibori pole-wrap resist. Then Ana Lisa will instruct ways to distort and manipulate the fabric before and after wrapping to create exciting variations in surface patterns. She will also introduce exciting ways to experiment with arashi pleating. As a hybrid dyer, Ana Lisa will demonstrate how Kakishibu persimmon tannin can create wonderful combinations and contrasts with indigo combined with industrial dyes. We will use, Natural indigo vat, Kaikishibu (persimmon tannin), and thickened fiber-reactive MX dyes.
